Max Hartman is a Project Engineer at the Gilbane Building Company, working on an adaptive reuse project in Williamsburg Brooklyn, transforming an old umbrella factory into luxury condos. Hartman received a dual Masters’ degree in Architecture and Real Estate Development from Columbia, and then worked as a Virtual Design and Construction Engineer for 5 years at Gilbane, focusing on residential high-rise projects across New York City. In 2017, Hartman was a founding member of the Gilbane PRIDE Affinity Group in New York City, which became a template for launching the Employee Resource Groups at Gilbane nationally. The PRIDE ERG works in concert with Gilbane’s ‘Inclusion & Belonging Initiative’ to provide support for the LGBTQ+ Community at Gilbane, strengthen public outreach, and aid recruiting efforts.
Joe Visgaitis

Gilbane Building Company
As the safety manager of Gilbane’s Washington, DC Business Unit, Joe Visgaitis, CHST, is responsible for spearheading the Gilbane Cares culture of safety. Along with his counterparts in Gilbane’s other business units, he helps drive Gilbane’s progressive safety program toward great achievements and a goal of zero mishaps. Visgaitis is the past Chairman of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Safety Sciences Department Advisory Committee and represents Gilbane on the ANSI A.10 Committee for Construction as a member of their national safety committee. Visgaitis is a veteran of the United States Air Force, and serves as a leader on Gilbane’s Military Advantage Employee Resource Group (ERG), serving as the national liaison for Gilbane’s partnership with the Honor Flight Network and as the ERG champion for the Mid-Atlantic Region.
